The last hurdle has been removed, so the full development of the Jedlik Ányos Grammar School can start on 18 November, according to the decision of the Csepel Board of Representatives. The approximately 5,800-square-foot main education building will be renovated, a new central hall with gymnasium and vocational wings will be erected, and a ceremonial hall, chapel and prayer hall will be built. They build a library to meet today’s needs, and build pavilions in the yard to hold outdoor classes. They will arrange the condition of the garden and yard, and create an ornamental garden and a relaxing study garden.

In 2017, the government provided HUF 5 billion for the works. This was followed by a wide-ranging social consultation forum that created ideas for development. After it became clear that HUF 5 billion was not enough to rebuild the entire environment, and in the meantime construction prices had multiplied, the government took over the investment, which will be implemented by BMSK Zrt. From a net HUF 16 billion state source.

The grammar school was organized by the Order of St. Benedict in Pannonhalma in 1945. Jedlik was the first tuition-free, state-supported, coeducational church school in Hungary. In 1948, after nationalization, the Benedictines left the grammar school. The central building, built in 1952, was one of the most modern school buildings in Central Europe at the time, and the grammar school became the practice school of ELTE. The Benedictine traditions and the excellent teaching staff were also dominant in the later years of the school. Today, the institution is ranked among the 100 best secondary schools in Hungary.
