The dining car of the train used by Miklós Horthy, Turán 9, arrived in Hungary on 21 December. Restoration fo the train car will begin immediately after staff return to the Museum writes the MTI.

Governor Miklós Horthy used the Turán railway train for high-level events until 1944. It was later moved to the territory of, what has at the time, Czechoslovakia. The dining car, car No. 9, was then used by the Czechoslovak government for representational purposes for a long time. It was eventually scrapped in the 1970s and fell into private hands, the Transport Museum wrote in a statement sent to the MTI on Monday.

For a time, Hungary made attempts to recover the complete legendary train. Nevertheless, only one car, no. 12, has been returned to the country to date. Following a complete restoration, it is currently on display in the Railway History Park on Tatai Road.

The Turán 9 was found in terrible condition, walled in as the first floor of a lakeside house, in Senec, Slovakia, the statement reads. The artefact will be transferred from its current location to the collection of the Museum of Transport after the Minister for Human Resources provided extraordinary financial aid for its purchase, repatriation and restoration at the Museum's request.
