Óbuda University announced the launch of the János Neumann memorial year yesterday, the world-famous scientist's statue was laid with a wreath in the institution's garden, and an all-day scientific conference was held. On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the mathematician's birth, the Neumann Society is holding countless programs and events until the end of December 2023, with which it tries to introduce the Hungarian public to everything the world owes to János Neumann, who was born in Budapest and died in Washington.

Archaeologists came across special finds in the 3rd District, in Pünkösdfürdő Street: prehistoric-, Roman-, migration- and Avar-era monuments were found in the same place. A 6th-7th-century grave was found here, in which the buried woman had a string of glass beads around her neck, a bronze ring on her temple, and a bronze ring on her right hand. Other valuable objects of use were also found on the site from several periods.

During the archaeological excavation in the area of the former distillery, Buszesz, a drainage protection structure of prehistoric origin was identified under the Roman layers in Óbuda. The ditch system ensured flood protection. Pile holes, storage and waste pits belonging to former buildings were also found.

The long-awaited development work has begun at the Aquincum Museum, during which a completely new experience wall will be built on the site of the rusty iron fence on Szentendrei Road and a new exhibition will be created to give a glimpse into the lives of the Romans who once lived here. From 30 July, we can bathe in the Danube in Budapest again. On the Római-part (Roman Beach), in the area on the banks of the Danube next 15–17 Kossuth Lajos üdülőpart (resort) a free beach will open, where until the end of August anyone can bathe in the Danube.

Thirty years ago, in the summer of 1991, the Soviet army left Hungary permanently. The Red Army, which was temporarily stationed here at the time, but had been in the country for almost five decades, also owned a number of properties in Budapest during this time, most of which were in a very dilapidated condition at the time of the return. Since then, three decades have passed, the former military facilities have been renovated in several places and utilized very well. On the anniversary, we will visit some of them.

The story is almost like a fairy tale because from the moment Sándor Ember, a legal adviser, and later Member of Parliament accidentally learned about the intention to parcel the area near Békásmegyer during a rowing tour on the Danube and bought the land after a quick decision, it was as if everything turned into gold. It soon became clear that the area had unparalleled archaeological finds across Europe and then on Whitsun in 1934, medicinal water was found on the plot, where soon, in the summer of 1935, a bath now known as Pünkösdfürdő ('Whitsun Bath') opened.
