Metro 2 was completed 50 years ago - Construction was started with spades and shovels

Despite the fact that the first underground railway on the European mainland started in Budapest in 1896, the next underground railway section was completed in its entire length only fifty years ago, in December 1972. The construction lasted for more than twenty years and did not lack difficulties.
Preparations for the development of the Gödöllő and Csömör HÉV will resume

The planning of the connection of the H8 Gödöllő and the H9 Csömör suburban railway lines (HÉV - helyiérdekű vasút) and the metro line 2 continues. Part of the investment is the complete renovation of the suburban railway lines. The Örs Vezér Square's bus traffic will be transformed after the connection with the metro.
Mushroom on Örs Vezér Square to close

Let's meet on Örs, at the Mushroom! The common sentence marks a meeting place almost as well known as the clock on the old Moszkva Square. The Mushroom once housed a traffic control centre but on 1 June 2021, even the ticket offices are closing. The fate of the building remains unknown.
Planning of M2 metro and Gödöllő Suburban railway connection begins

Planning of the connection of Metro line 2 and the suburban railway to Gödöllő can begin after the government decided to provide the necessary funding. Construction plans for the reconstruction of the suburban railway line and the renovation of affected stations can begin. Renders of key elements of the plans have also been published. The metro and suburban railway tracks will be connected above ground on Örs vezér square.
Jump over to Sugár – Forty years of an iconic shopping centre

The socialist shopping centre opened on örs Vezér Square forty years ago. While Terminal originally one the contest announced to find a name, the city council eventually named the 29-thousand square metre shopping centre Sugár. Filled with the state-owned shops of the era the store brought several novelties. Home delivery could be requested on certain items, pre-orders could be placed, and the upper floors were wheel-chair accessible. The hit slogan, Csak egy ugrás a Sugár (loosely, 'jump over to Sugár') became the iconic phrase of a generation.
