In the 13th district's Szent István park, in the area between Pozsony road and Hollán Ernő street, the corner plots, which have been surrounded by low fences until now, will be turned into a community garden. The basketball court will also be renovated.
Statue of Saint Stephen to be erected in Kispest rather than Saint Stephen's Park

The statue of King St. Stephen will not be erected in the park named after him but on Templom Square in Kispest. The mayor decided this on 14 June based on his personal authorization ordered in the epidemic. The authorization was valid until June 15. Earlier, work was suspended in Szent István Park because the work would have taken up a green area even though it would have replaced an earlier sculpture.

The green that opened on 1 April 1936 was originally called Lipótváros Park, then Rakovszky Park. It was given its current name in 1937 and has been called Szent István Park ever since. The site of the beautiful ornamental garden was once a parquet factory, and its construction was initiated in the 1920s by the President of the Public Works Council at the time, Iván Rakovszky. Újlipótváros' most popular park is 85 years old.
Trees lining Újpest Embankment to be refreshed

Starting from Jászai Mari Square and moving north a total of 105 elderly acacia trees will be felled and 161 common maples planted. The maple is indigenous, can cope well with urban environments and grows lush foliage within a few years.
Statue of Saint Stephen may be erected in Kispest, not Saint Stephen's Park

Budapest City Council to vote on the question of where a new statue of Saint Stephen will be erected on 30 September. The statue was originally planned for Saint Stephen's Park in the 13th District, but the proposal is to erect it on Templom Square in the 19th District. The Wallenberg Monument, the monument to Heroic Budapest Partisans, and a statue of Ferenc Fejtő currently stand in the park. The statue of the communist People's Commissioner György Lukács was removed in 2017.
