The Királydomb in Rákosmező has been declared a national memorial site following the recommendation of the Minister of the Prime Minister's Office – writes MTI. The National Assembly passed the amendment unanimously with 169 votes in favour. According to the Explanatory Memorandum of the amendment, Királydomb in Rákosmező, the traditional location of national diets in the medieval Kingdom of Hungary, is in danger of being forgotten and built up.

Királydomb can be found in the 10th District of Budapest, bordered by Nagyicce Street, Pilisi Street and Dorogi Street. The western side of the hill is now filled with houses. Its eastern side is still open and freely accessible and suitable for the monument.

According to the amendment submitted on 10 November, Királydomb in Rákosmező will be declared a national memorial site, adding a 19th name to the list of national memorial sites. "Királydomb, the scene of meetings that altered Hungarian history, is in danger of being forgotten and built up," reads the explanatory memorandum of the bill.

The text also emphasises that "naming the location a national memorial is justified to preserve its unique importance to the nation's past and its memory among Hungarians."

The bill draws attention to the fact that Rákos Field was once a symbol of Hungarian sovereignty and national representation. It served as the location of national diets, the election of kings, and other important decisions from the Árpád Era onwards.
