The building at 25 Andrássy Avenue, the former Ballet Institute, known as the Drechsler Palace, was built for the Pension Fund of the Royal Hungarian State Railways according to the plans of Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos. The building is being converted into a five-star hotel, its facade is already visible. Pestbuda now presents some pictures of the building.
Outdoor photo exhibition opened about the history of Andrássy Avenue

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Gyula Andrássy, an outdoor photo exhibition presenting the history of Andrássy Avenue can be seen from 6 March on Andrássy Avenue, between Oktogon and Kodály Körönd. The pictures, which were placed on the candelabras, show how traffic and the function of the road have changed. The photos also bring to life important historical moments.
The renovation of Nyugati Railway Station continues with spectacular developments

In addition to the renovation of the north-west tower on the Teréz Boulevard facade of the Nyugati Railway Station, work will also begin on the south-east tower. The protective roof in front of the renewed facade is expected to be demolished in autumn.
The builder, János Bobula, could live in one of the most beautiful palaces on Andrássy Avenue only for a few years

"It is one of the most beautiful buildings on the avenua," said the contemporary press when 62 Andrássy Avenue, formerly known as Bobula Palace, was built in 1882-1883. Maybe it wasn't called that for no reason. The carefully designed building, the list of famous artists of the age, the unique furnishings all suggest that the praise was justified. Moreover, the building faithfully reflected the owner’s financial situation, social status, and architectural views. Although the house is known to everyone today as “a building next to the House of Terror,” Bobula’s Palace deserves much more than that.
Memorial plaque unveiled on house of Hungarian poet János Pilinszky

The Imre Kertész Institute has commemorated János Pilinszky, who died forty years ago and was born a hundred years ago. As the opening of the half-year event series, a memorial plaque was unveiled today at the poet's former home on Izabella Street. Pilinszky's life will be presented at an outdoor exhibition on Benczúr Street.
Renovation of Nyugati Railway Station's roof completed

The new roof structure of Nyugati Railway Station has been completed, and four of the 6 spires around the building have been restored. However, work continues, in other parts of the building, such as the cash register hall, the fast-food restaurant, the facades and towers of which will also be restored.

Drama on the university wall - The heroic monument was planned 95 years ago
