The rebuilt Petőfi Bridge was handed over 70 years ago

When the predecessor of today's Petőfi Bridge was completed in 1937, there was hardly any traffic on it, as the Buda side was largely undeveloped. It was only given a short time as it was destroyed eight years later along with the other Danube crossings in Budapest. When the reconstruction of the bridges began, it was preceded by the restoration of several crossings, then it was finally handed over only in 1952. The new structure was three metres wider, and it also had a bicycle track, which was also important at the time because many people used it to go to work since cars were not allowed for private use.

The imposing roof of the Art Nouveau apartment building at 3 / A Károly boulevard will be rebuilt soon. The roof of the house, built after the turn of the century, was damaged in World War II and was later restored in a simplified manner. The roof reconstruction of the building, which is now home to the Downtown Theater, was made a priority investment by a government decree issued last week.
The candelabra of the Chain Bridge regains their pre-World War I appearance

According to their appearance in 1914, professionals are restoring and reconstructing the historic, ornate light poles of the Chain Bridge under renovation. A total of four large Széchenyi-era bronze candelabras with three luminaires have survived from the original public lighting columns of the bridge. There is no detailed professional design documentation for the other luminaires that have been lost, so they are reconstructed with the help of contemporary photos, documents and articles.

The long overdue renovation of the Budapest Central Town Hall has begun. Under archeological supervision, the courtyard slope has already been demolished and the façade will soon be erected. According to the information, the Gerlóczy Street wing of the three-hundred-year-old building will be renovated, where the Budapest Gallery will move in after the renovation, the facade of Bárczy István Street will receive decorative lighting, the Merlin Theater building will be renovated and the Town Hall Park may finally open next year.
The demolished dome of the ELTE and BME buildings will be restored

The Fehérvári Roundel and its surroundings are to be demolished and rebuilt to its original size in Buda Castle. One of the main goals of the National Hauszmann Program is to allow visitors to Buda Castle to explore the Castle District by walking around it on its walls. The Fehérvári Roundel plays a major role in enabling this. Following the reconstruction, a previously closed section of the western castle wall will be opened, connecting the roundel to Csikós Courtyard. The western gardens will be revitalised to evoke the vineyards and orchards that once surrounded Budavár. Várgarázs III. will meanwhile further reduce the number of cars parked in the Castle.
First renovated spire of Western Railway Station completed

Renovation of the 8,200 square metre roof of Nyugati Pályaudvar, the Western Railway Station has reached a spectacular stage. The first of the spires for the towers on the rear facade has been raised into place. Meanwhile, the new glass panels of the roof are being installed, and the roof structures of the towers on the main facade toward Teréz Boulevard are being removed.
