It is lesser known that on 7 October 1907, the construction works of the Ministry of Finance's Szentháromság Square palace were completed. The significant construction work took place between October 1901 and December 1904, but the post-construction work continued until October 1907. And several pivotal dates are connected to the construction itself.
The former diplomatic residence in the Castle was demolished

The demolition of the former diplomatic residence, the later Burg Hotel, was completed this week in the Szentháromság Square in Buda Castle, leaving only piles of rubble. The building, designed by György Jánossy and László Laczkovics and completed in 1981 is planned to be replaced by a house that will evoke the exterior of the buildings originally demolished after World War II.

A house, respecting the historical past, which closely matches the image of the Castle District and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the new conference centre of the Pallas Athene Domus Meriti Foundation in Szentháromság Square, said Ádám Reisz, head of Rapa Architects, the designers of the building. He also explained that the starting point for the reconstruction of the facade was the pre-war state, as there is a wealth of visual information available about this age on which they could based it.

The most significant hotel in Buda Castle is undoubtedly the Hilton. This is explained not only by the world-famous brand, but also by the size and panoramic location of the building. Barely a hundred metres away, however, the small Burg Hotel held the competition with its big rival for two decades. Like Hilton, it is a modern building as well, its predecessors destroyed in World War II. But now the area is once again undergoing a change: a partial demolition permit has been issued for the building, and work has already begun on the interiors.
The Hungarian Chamber of Architects would place 7-8 Szentháromság tér in Budavár under protection

In the Buda Castle, the Matthias Church opposite the former diplomatic residence, the later Burg Hotel was built in the 1970s. According to the proposal of the Hungarian Chamber of Architects, the building should be placed under local protection, thus preserving it for posterity.
Visible work on exterior of Ministry of Finance building begins

The monumental reconstruction of the facade and roof structure of the Ministry of Finance on Szentháromság Square and the restoration of the representative interiors is to begin soon. The building, which will be completed by 2023, will follow the designs Sándor Fellner created.

The final designs of the office block to be built in the Fortuna Courtyard of the Ministry of Finance on Szentháromság Square have been revealed. An office block stood in the courtyard until 2019 when it was torn down.
Foundation of Central Bank of Hungary buys building of the former Burg Hotel in Buda Castle

The former state-owned building of Burg Hotel on Szentháromság Square in the 1st District will be purchased by the Pallas Athéné Domus Meriti Foundation of the Central Bank of Hungary. The hotel closed in 2019, and the building has been vacant ever since.
