The public procurement procedures for the second phase of the restoration of the former Royal Hungarian Ministry of Finance's Szentháromság Square building complex have been completed. Thus, the most interesting part of the construction, the reconstruction of the façade and the roof, can begin. Zoltán Halmai, the CEO of the contractor PM-Tér6 Nonprofit Kft., announced the details to the daily Magyar Nemzet.

The CEO noted that work would heavily rely on original documents and photographs and several valuable fragments found during internal demolition work. Mr Halmai also noted that old details, such as wood and stone carvings, plasterwork, chandeliers, floor coverings, would be restored based on artistic blueprints. The stained-glass windows would also be replaced.

The CEO noted that 2000 square metres of the 40.000 square metre complex were listed as a historical monument of unique value.

Old details, including wood and stone carvings, plasterwork and floor coverings, are being restored based on original plans.

According to Zoltán Halmai, the Szentháromság Square wing's representative spaces – including the ballroom, the auditorium, the boardroom, the waiting rooms, and the ornamental staircase – will be worthy venues for various state, diplomatic events, receptions and festive events.
