The Szilágyi Dezső Square Reformed Church was taken over by the faithful on Palm Sunday of 1896, so this year it celebrated the 125th anniversary of its construction. The Parish kept track of the anniversary and two years ago began the interior renovation of the building, which was largely completed in March. Due to the month of architecture - and as the Reformation Day approaches - Pestbuda was able to see what the new interior became like.
Renovation of Ludovika continues - We have the designers

Renovation of two more parts of the building may begin in the near future on the Ludovika Campus of the University of Public Service. Based on the recently completed public procurement procedure, the planning of the reconstruction of the so-called Tóparti building in the Diószegi Street section and the planning of the renovation of the Ludovika Fencing Hall and Event Center on Üllői Street will begin.

The renovation of one of the busiest public areas in Budapest, Blaha Lujza Square, has started, and the works are expected to last until the end of next year. They increase the green space in the square and increase the accessibility of public transport and built environment.
Restoration of Habsburg Gate and Turul statue in Buda Castle has begun

The ornate gate built during the Hauszmann-reconstruction of Buda castle stands at the Szent György Square station of the Buda Castle Funicular. The ornate fence, stairs, and the adjoined great Turul statue – erected in 1905 – are being restored.
Citadel renovation to create 1500 square-metre exhibition space

Several lifts, a pool, a 1,500-square-metre exhibition space and a twenty-metre flagpole will also be installed in the Citadel as a part of the current reconstruction, which will see the walls and gardens of the structure completed in 1854 completely renewed. The work will be carried out by the consortium of ZÁÉV and Market Zrt. for 14.8 billion HUF.

Renovation of Blaha Lujza Square to begin next year: water games and mushroom-shaped fountain planned

A mushroom-shaped fountain with three nozzles, 84 burgundy-red chairs, an exposed concrete retaining wall hundreds of metres long, and water games sunk into the pavement will decorate the renovated Blaha Lujza Square, according to the tender announced by BKK. Prospective contractors can submit their offers for the rebuilding of Budapest's busiest squares 15 February 2021. The works will have to be quick, as according to an agreement between the capital and the government state support for the reconstruction of the square can only be accessed until the end of next year.

First renovated spire of Western Railway Station completed

Renovation of the 8,200 square metre roof of Nyugati Pályaudvar, the Western Railway Station has reached a spectacular stage. The first of the spires for the towers on the rear facade has been raised into place. Meanwhile, the new glass panels of the roof are being installed, and the roof structures of the towers on the main facade toward Teréz Boulevard are being removed.
Green Liberty – The decision to repaint Szabadság Bridge to its original green was reached 35 years ago

Following a tragedy in Vienna, abridge renovation project was launched in Budapest in 1979. Szabadság Bridge was slated for renovation in 1981, however, was eventually prioritised due to urgent work. Despite this, the bridge was closed again in 1985, as the original steel support columns had been corroded so significantly they became unstable. However, during this second renovation, the decision to repaint the bridge to its original green was also made.
Southern section of M3 metro line to be opened on 22 October

Renovation of the section began in April 2019 and was completed recently. Four stations of the line have been rebuilt. Its tunnels renewed, the track network, signals and safety systems modernised, alongside passenger information and other electrical systems. The renovated metro section will be opened to the public at 5 pm on 22 October. Following the opening the metro will again run the full length of the line but not stop at its central stations: Semmelweis klinikák, Corvin Negyed, Ferenciek tere and Arany János utca.
Technical acceptance procedure on southern section of M3 metro begins

Danube, Tisza, Drava, Sava – Beautiful fountain in Budapest city centre to be renovated

A beautiful fountain can be found in the centre of Budapest. Designed by Miklós Ybl, it depicts what were once the four largest rivers of Hungary: the Danube, the Tisza, the Drava and the Sava. Originally erected on Kalvin Square in 1883 it was severely damaged in the Second World War. A copy of the fountain and its statues were later erected on Erzsébet Square. Sadly, these were damaged, not by armed conflict but simply passers-by, leading to the foot of the Sava figure being broken off – a fault that will also be repaired with the complete renovation of the fountain.

Renovation of Hall of Art to begin as Government confirm priority status

The Government has declared the renovation of the Hall of Arts to be a project of national economic importance and investment of high public interest. The building was originally constructed in 1896 as part of the events to commemorate the millennium of Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin. However, when work will begin on the building, designed by Albert Schickedanz and inaugurated by Franz Joseph, is currently unknown.
