A unique education and innovation center in Hungary is being built on the Ménesi road campus of the University of Corvinus, inspired by the buildings of world-class universities such as the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien or the University of St. Gallen. The Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation, which maintains Corvinus University, spends HUF 12 billion on central budget support for the renovation work.

The new Campus will create a future-oriented, community-focused university space that will continue to be part of the urban fabric, Corvinus University points out on its website.

In addition to the educational and research spaces, dormitory, professor apartments, community and representation rooms, as well as rooms suitable for sports and recreation will be built in the building. A real novelty is the Data Science and Data Visualization Workshop called Data Space. The property itself was built in several phases from 1973 to the mid-1980s, with a floor area of about 17,575 square meters, previously housed the College of Public Administration. The university informed our newspaper that the size of the building would not change from its current condition. The design of the façade is not yet final, as the possibilities of how it can be better adapted to the visual environment today are being explored.

The information on the website of the institution emphasizes that the technical standard of the building will be significantly improved during the renovation, and the campus is currently the only one in Hungarian higher education to receive the so-called LEED Gold sustainability rating. The total net cost of construction is HUF 13.9 billion.

The Ménesi Street campus is the first university building in Hungary to be designed with sustainability in mind. The interiors of the new campus have been and are being designed in a community design, so students, faculty, researchers, and service staff are also involved in its design. The renovation is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2023.

The investment will be implemented by Market Építő Zrt.
