All Tátra trams in the capital have been equipped to transport bicycles, allowing cyclists to board not only selected lines of the Buda tram network but lines in Pest – reports the MTI following an announcement from them the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK).

The release adds that as a result of the development efforts coordinated by the BKK and BKV nearly one-third of all trams in Budapest can now safely transport bicycles. Tátra trams (among others) serve lines 17, 41, 59 and 61 on the Buda tram network, and lines 12–14, 1 and 28 in Pest.

It is currently possible to transport bicycles on 140 tramcars in Budapest, on Saturday this number will increase to 320. Bicycle transport possibilities are indicated by a bicycle pictogram on the side of non-low-floor trams. One bike can be transported per car and must be secured with the velcro at the end of the car without a driver's cabin.

The passenger must have a valid ticket or travelcard, and a ticket or bike travelcard for the bicycle. However, the BKK drew attention to the current three-month test period, allowing for the free transport of bicycles on the weekend.
