The renewed tomb of the Petőfi family was inaugurated on Saturday in the National Tomb Garden of Fiume Road, writes MTI.
“ Memorials are not needed by the heroes, but by us, their late descendants, who want to preserve, restore, bring to life as much of what Sándor Petőfi's oeuvre embodies and message to today. We need to remember to understand the value of freedom, ”said Gergely Gulyás, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office.

Gábor Móczár, the general director of NÖRI, emphasized: Petőfi is everywhere where there are Hungarians and will be there as long as the Hungarians remain. According to Philip Rákay, the patron of the renovation of the tomb, it is possible to live without respect and memory of the past, but it is not worth it. The parents of Sándor Petőfi, István Petrovics and Mária Hrúz, his wife, Júlia Szendrey, their child, Zoltán Petőfi, and the poet's younger brother, István, rest in the tomb of the Petőfi family, erected in 1911.
