The renovated Dreher Museum of Beer is to reopen on 23 September – reports the MTI.

What are the main ingredients of beer? How do people drink beer? How was beer brewed in the past, and how is it made today? How did  Antal Dreher become the “beer king” of international fame? These questions, among others, are answered in the Dreher Museum of Beer, which is reopening on World Tourism Day, according to Dreher Sörgyárak Zrt., which maintains the institution.

The release highlights that the Kőbánya Brewery founded the Historic Brewery Collection in 1979 on the 125th anniversary of the brewery's foundation. The museum was renovated on its 40-year anniversary.

The only collection of artefacts connected to the brewing industry in Hungary, the museum offers digital and interactive content as well as beer tastings. The artefacts on display not only showcase the history of the beer industry, but the Dreher Brewery: technical and manufacturing equipment, mock-ups, flags, posters, photographs, films, and works of fine art.

The renewed exhibition includes the first canned beer produced in Hungary, and centuries-old artefacts, such as items from the Pest Brewer's Guild, a spectacular model table of the factory made before its construction, and the fire bell of the former malt-factory. Visitors are first invited to watch a short film about the history of the brewery, and then join a 30-minute guided tour, ending their visit with a beet tasting, if they are above the legal drinking age.

"Brewing is a craft with a storied history, filled with exciting artefacts and stories. (...) When planning the visitor centre, we concentrated on passing on all these to beer lovers in a way that also meets the social distancing requirements of current times" – the release quotes Róbert Török, chief museologist of the Dreher Museum of Beer as saying.
