A significant milestone was reached in the construction works of the National Athletics Stadium to be built in the 9th district: the last pre-assembled steel structure element was installed - writes ZÁÉV Zrt.

Installation work on the steel roof elements began on 12 July, 2021, and the last element was installed on 1 December. Over the course of four and a half months, this meant an average of 10 items per month. One piece of roof structure elements weighs 100 tons.

As they write, a total of 48 of the diamond-shaped steel elements inserted by the professionals have been put in place, giving the facility its final shape. The work was carried out with outstanding technological solutions. Thanks to the installation technology, the construction of the roof structure went smoothly, in parallel with the other work phases.

After on-site assembly, each element was delivered by a special SPMT vehicle used for this task to a special crawler crane, which was used to finalize the roof components. The KÉSZ Group was responsible for the steel and cable roof structure.

Construction of the sports complex began in November 2020, and the facility will serve as the venue for the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
