On 15 March, the largest flag of the whole of Hungary was hoisted in the courtyard of the Citadel, according to the press release of the Várkapitányság. Following the fall of the War of Independence in 1848–1849, a 36-meter mast pole was erected in the inner courtyard as part of the reconstruction of the intimidation and repression building, on which the 6-meter-by-12-foot, or 72-square-meter, flag was hoisted yesterday.

In addition to the mast pole and the flag, the specialists have already cleaned the building complex and assessed the condition of the walls and ceilings. In addition, a so-called leakage system running along the walls has been completed, which will play an important role in preserving the condition.

As part of the reconstruction, the nearly 10,000-square-meter exterior walls of the Citadel will be restored, and the inner courtyards will be renewed, creating a new 6,000-square-foot public park with rich flora, a pond, a pond and a panoramic café. The western cannon will be given a new cultural function: the struggles of the Hungarians for freedom will be presented on more than 1,700 square meters.
