The new specialist clinic in Kőbánya which started operating in March, built with more than 8 billion HUF, was officially named on Tuesday, the announcement states. Chief physician Gyula Kerkovits was an outstanding representative of the Hungarian cardiology community, during his 40 years of activity at the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital, he raised the institution's cardiology department to one of the most modern care centres in domestic cardiology, they highlighted.

The operation of the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital and Clinic includes four specialist clinics: the 10th District and the 17th District, as well as the Monor and Gyömrő ones. Together with the hospital clinics, this meant the care of 1.1 million outpatients in 2019, a significant part of which will be taken over by the new specialist clinic. They pointed out that the former Kőbányai Road specialist clinic in the 10th District, commonly known as the health centre, was built more than 70 years ago, its renovation was not possible, and its constant maintenance was expensive.

The new institution at the corner of Maglódi Road and Lavotta Street began operating in March 2022 with 150 specialists: more than 50 doctors and more than 70 professional workers. The 86 clinics of the four-story and 5,500-square-metre building can serve up to 300 outpatients at the same time.

According to the experience of the first months, the new building enables modern, integrated outpatient care, they wrote, adding that the relocation of outpatient clinics from the hospital also relieves the burden on inpatient care. Thanks to the development, patients have easier access to special diagnostic tests. The new specialist clinic can be operated more economically than before and ensures a faster and more efficient flow of information.
