Széchenyi István square and Clark Ádám square can be renewed The planning works related to the renovation and transformation of Széchenyi István square and Clark Ádám square may continue soon. At the Pest bridgehead of the Chain Bridge, the circularity of the square will be eliminated, while at the bridgehead of Buda, the square will be accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.
Preparations for tree planting in Blaha Lujza Square continue The Budapest Transport Center will plant sixty-one trees soon in the 8th district Blaha Lujza square. Some of them are installed directly on a continuous green surface, others in the cladding using the Stockholm method. This procedure promotes the growth of the roots of urban trees, i.e. improves their living conditions. During the renovation of the square, a water play will be created, among other things, but the construction of the paving and the placement of the furniture will also continue.
Csömöri overpass to be completed in 2021 The modernisation of the Csömöri út overpass is to be completed this year. During the construction of the overpass connecting Csömöri Road and Drégelyvár Street in Újpalota, steel supports will be installed until the end of May to strengthen the bridge. The damaged concrete structures will be repaired by mid-summer, and traffic will return to the bridge by the end of December.
Renovation of Blaha Lujza Square to begin this year Traffic flow around Blaha Lujza Square will be redesigned, creating a pedestrian-friendly space with new trees. The grass-covered areas of the square will increase, and water games added. A unique pavilion for events and cultural purposes will be built. The facade of the Corvin Department Store will also be restored. Work beginning in 2021 will last for roughly one and a half years.
Four tram stops to be redesigned on Line 50 Following the renovations on tram line 50 passengers will be able to access the platforms through ramps, to help wheelchair users and commuters with prams. Work is expected to last until this Autumn.
Illuminated Christmas-tram service begins The old-timer tram decorated in festive lights will run on several lines this year and can be used until 6th January.
