The Budapest Development Centre (BKFK) and Nemzeti Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. have created a website about the Southern Ring Railway Project, in which the residents of Újbuda and those living near the tracks can express their opinions.

The main goal of the development is to allow trains to run three times more frequently and to allow direct trains between larger cities in eastern and western Hungary and town in the agglomeration of Budapest. The project would also create an express connection to the three metro lines (M3, M4 and M5).

Two new pairs of tracks would be constructed next to the existing tracks between Kelenföld and Ferencváros (Source: delikorvasut.hu)

Landscape planning to organise around the tracks is set to begin soon. Before planning commences, BFK has elected to survey the opinion of the residents of Újbuda and those living along the line.

The environmental planning will begin with the most populated Buda sections. The online survey can be completed until 15 November. The second round of surveys will allow residents to express their opinions on the decisions made regarding the project.
