Planning for the Semmelweis University Knowledge Park in Józsefváros can begin

The design of Semmelweis University's knowledge center called Science Park in Józsefváros may begin soon, as the winning design office was found through a tender. The Health and Biotechnology Science Park will play a key role in everyday healing and patient care, and will aim to increase Hungary's competitiveness in the healthcare and biotechnology industries.

We have the winning designer of the open tender for the design of the Health Industry and Biotechnology Science Park, so the preparation of the design documentation for the building complex can begin. The health care facility is located in the 8th district Józsefváros Kőris street, Kálvária street and Dugonics street.

Semmelweis University (SE), Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE), the National University of Public Service (NKE) and the local council of Józsefváros signed a letter of intent to establish the Science Park in 2019. Hungary's three outstanding universities in different fields have created a health industry biotechnology knowledge park which plays a decisive role in the everyday healing, in the renewal of research and knowledge that can be quickly utilized in patient care. The common goal is also to increase Hungary's competitiveness in the field of health care and biotechnology.

According to the European Public Procurement Bulletin, FEJÉR Tervező és Mérnökiroda Kft. The consortium of Beruházó és Fejlesztő Zrt. Won.

The documents show that the Innovation Center and Incubator House to be established will be 5,550 square meters, and the university research and development units will be 16,100 square meters. The industrial R&D units will cover 9,300 square feet and the IMedTech center will cover 7,320 square feet.

The above-mentioned departments must be designed by the successful tenderer, and as part of the complete design documentation, it is responsible for, among other things, preparing a detailed feasibility study, conducting a site inspection, designating construction sites, and preparing a final design program.

"The Science Park concept was created to make a big leap, to introduce a revolutionary way of thinking at Semmelweis University with partners who complement our knowledge, for example in the fields of informatics and bionics," said Béla Merkely, the university's registrar in October 2019.

The innovation facility is also expected to increase the efficiency of scientific life. Science Park will be the culmination of the university's new research and development and innovation strategy, where all researchers' ideas and projects will be welcomed, as it will be an inclusive center where everyone can realize their own innovation dream.
