Belonging to the Corvinus University of Budapest in 13–15 Fővám square,The salt house, the so-called S building, was last renovated 23 years ago. An open tender has now been issued in the Public Procurement Notice for the restoration of the north wing of the house.

Last year, the renovation of some mechanical and electrical engineering systems in the south wing began, as well as the masterpiece work that is currently underway. 

This year, the northern side of the Salt House will also be renewed. The winning contractor will renovate the basement buzzer, the main entrance gates and the exterior facade decorative brick cladding will need to be repaired. Damaged or missing elements of the decorative brick plinth next to the main entrance gate must be replaced by the successful bidder, namely custom-made antifreeze clinker decorative bricks.

The brick elements of the ledge also need to be replaced, here a new ledge covering is also needed. The works include the renovation of the mechanical and electrical systems of all levels, the modernization of the lighting in the classrooms. In addition, the paintings and coverings of the offices, corridors and service rooms, educational rooms in the block on the north side will be renewed. The north side has a total floor area of 2,400 square meters.

The Salt House was built in 1886 according to the plans of Ulrich Baptism, behind the Main Customs House (now Corvinus University), recorded by Miklós Ybl, and operated in an organic unit with it. Offices were set up for the employees of the customs house, as well as offices supervising the turnover and financing of public warehouses, as well as warehouses. The building, which was badly damaged in World War II, was later partially renovated several times and then underwent a general reconstruction in 1999. It was received later this year by Corvinus University for educational purposes.
