The renovation of the fortress, which has been closed off and destroyed for many decades, started in the second half of 2020 with the archaeological excavations, and since then the experts of the Castle Headquarters have been proceeding with the work continuously, according to the plans. After tidying up the inner courtyard and renovating the outer wall surfaces, the construction has reached another important stage, it was announced on the Facebook page of the National Hauszmann Program.

They also informed the readers that the reconstruction of the fortress will continue with the following tasks: there will be new excavations at the inner facade walls of the park buildings, in the immediate vicinity of the wall structure, and new insulation of the fortress walls will also be carried out. According to the design renders, the breaching of the fortress walls, the design of the roundel according to the new functions and the necessary structural construction work will begin.

The post reveals that after the reconstruction of the southern section of the fort wall, the surfaces of the walls will be restored by specialists using stone restoration technology for a uniform appearance.

The renovation of the Citadel is the repayment of a debt of many decades since the conditions were unworthy of a world heritage site prevailed at the top of Gellért Hill, one of the most beautiful panoramas in the country, in a place with a high priority for tourism. The goal of the Castle Headquarters is to give Hungarians a lovely place at the top of Budapest, where both domestic and foreign visitors can spend their time meaningfully.
