On 30 November, the General Assembly unanimously supported the 12th District Mayor Zoltán Pokorni's proposal, which states: they consider it necessary to restore the cogwheel railway's scheduled traffic as soon as possible, but next April at the latest, and they asked the Mayor of Budapest to include the cogwheel's renovation and the plans for its extension to Normafa in the EU development plans, reports hegyvidek.hu.

The board also approved that, during the renovation, transportation of the people living in the area will be provided with a so-called demand-controlled telebus.

It is also announced that the General Assembly has accepted the proposal of the people of Hegyvidék and has given its word that it will not eliminate the cogwheel - Deputy Mayor Krisztina Fonti commented on the decision. She added: the Mayor of Budapest promised that the BKK would negotiate with the Mayor of Hegyvidék about the details, such as the travel time and frequency of the replacement buses.

Also at the suggestion of Mayor Zoltán Pokorni, the General Assembly decided to support the renovation of the cogwheel and the extension of its route. Hegyvidék citizens collected thousands of signatures to save the cogwheel.

Pestbuda previously reported that the operation of the cogwheel will be suspended throughout the winter due to high energy prices, based on the decision of the Budapest City Council, BKK and BKV. This worried the people of the 12th District, who feared that the cogwheel might even be eliminated, so they started collecting signatures. Thanks to the current decision, the cogwheel will be running again in the spring.
